Privacy Policy

Applies to the Android app Glanzo (package ID com.gremlincode.glanzo). The website gremlincode.de has its own privacy policy.

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:
Marc Schrimpf
c/o Block Services
Stuttgarter Str. 106
70736 Fellbach
Deutschland
E-mail: info@gremlincode.de

2. Solo use: all data stays on your device

Without a household, Glanzo stores all data (rooms, tasks, completions, points, settings, photos) exclusively on your device. Nothing is transferred to our server; there is no mandatory account, no sign-in, and no registration. Through Android's Auto Backup, your app data may be included in your Google One device backup; that backup is managed by Google within your Google account, and we have no access to it.

3. Households: what our server processes

Only when you start a household or accept a personal invitation does the app transfer data to our own server (api.gremlincode.de, operated in Germany/EU):

  • A randomly generated, anonymous device identifier and a server-assigned, pseudonymous Glanzo ID (a short code in the format XXXX-XXXX) that a household founder can use to invite you personally.
  • A hash (one-way encryption) of the Android device identifier (SSAID). It is used solely to recognize your device after clearing app data or reinstalling, so your Glanzo ID and household membership survive. If your account is linked to Google, we no longer use this recognition; recovery then runs exclusively through Google sign-in.
  • Household data: the names and repeat rules of rooms and tasks, completions (who completed what and when), issued invitations, and the member names you chose.
  • The weekly point totals of household members for the leaderboard; they are shown only within your household, and there is no comparison with other households.
  • When you subscribe to Glanzo Plus, the purchase token issued by Google Play: our server verifies it directly with Google and stores it linked to the household so the buyer can restore their household through their subscription after switching devices. Payment data is processed exclusively by Google.

The sole purposes of processing are synchronization within your household, the household-internal leaderboard, and subscription activation. Glanzo contains no ads, no tracking, and no analytics SDKs. Before/after photos always stay on the device and are never synced.

4. AI-assisted cleaning plan creation

When setting things up for the first time, you can optionally have an AI create your cleaning plan from a short interview. Using it is voluntary: you can just as easily create your plan without AI, using the app's local assistant or by hand. In the app, the AI option is marked as "online".

In the interview, the AI only asks about your living situation:

  • Rooms and how many there are
  • Floor types
  • Household size (number of people)
  • Pets
  • Cleaning habits and preferences

The app deliberately does not ask for names, addresses, or other contact details; the interview records household members only as a number, never by name. From your answers, the AI generates suggestions for rooms, tasks, and repeat rules, which are then stored in the app like a regular cleaning plan (see section 2 and section 3).

The app sends your interview answers to our server (api.gremlincode.de, operated in Germany/EU), which authenticates the request using your device identifier. To generate the questions and the plan, our server forwards the interview content to the AI service Ollama Inc. (USA). This transfer to the USA is a transfer to a third country (Art. 44 et seq. GDPR) and only happens if you actively choose the AI option. According to the provider, Ollama processes the content only transiently to answer the given request, does not store it permanently, and does not use it to train its own models; see Ollama's privacy policy for details (ollama.com/privacy).

Our server does not permanently store the interview content itself. We only store usage metadata (device/hardware identifier, timestamp, and number of generations) to prevent abuse and enforce usage limits (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The legal basis for using the AI option itself is your active choice to use the feature (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

5. Optional Google account link

You can voluntarily link your Glanzo account to your Google account (More → Account). Linking is optional; Glanzo works fully without it. Its only purpose is to let you restore your access and household, for example on a new device or after reinstalling.

For this we store the account identifier assigned by Google (the "sub" ID) and your email address. We use both exclusively to recognize your account and never send marketing emails. You can remove the link in the app at any time; both values are then deleted from the server.

6. Storage location and transport security

The server is hosted in Germany/EU. Communication between the app and the server is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).

7. Retention and deletion

You can delete your account together with all server data attributable to you alone at any time directly in the app (More → Account → "Delete account & data"). This removes the device identifier, Glanzo ID, device hash, any Google link, your household membership, and subscription assignments; a household whose only member you were is removed entirely, including rooms, tasks, and completions.

A household with other members remains available to them, since rooms, tasks, and completions are shared household data. If you merely leave a household (without deleting your account), your membership is removed immediately while the shared household data remains for the other members. We retain proof-of-purchase records for as long as we are legally required to.

You can find step-by-step instructions on the page Delete account and data.

8. App permissions

PermissionPurpose
InternetFor household sync, the leaderboard, subscription verification, the optional Google link, and the optional AI-assisted cleaning plan creation. Without a household and without the AI option, no connection is needed.
NotificationsFor reminders about due tasks (can be turned off).

9. Your rights as a data subject

Within the scope of the law, you have the following rights:

  • Access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
  • Lodging a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

To exercise them, feel free to contact info@gremlincode.de.

10. Changes to this policy

We update this privacy policy when the app's features or legal requirements change. The version published on this page applies.
