Privacy Policy
Applies to the Android app ZoomGuess (package ID com.gremlincode.zoomguess). The website gremlincode.de has its own privacy policy.
1. Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

2. Account and data we process
On first launch, ZoomGuess automatically creates an anonymous game account. It uses a randomly generated account identifier, but no email address, no real name and no sign-in. You can choose an optional display name for the leaderboard.
On our server (api.gremlincode.de) we store your game state and progress for this account (solved pictures, points, coins, jokers, lives, unlocked categories, VIP status, streak) as well as proof of purchases. This server-side handling is needed so that progress, leaderboards and purchases stay reliable and tamper-proof. We do not collect location data, contacts or your address book.
If you voluntarily link your game account to your Google account so that your progress is device-independent and survives a device change or reinstall, we store your Google account identifier (the “sub” ID issued by Google) and your email address. We use these solely to recognize your account and do not send marketing email. Linking is optional.
So that your progress survives a reinstall or clearing the app's data on the same device even without a Google link, we transmit a hash (one-way encryption) of the Android device identifier (SSAID) to our server. We store only this hash, never the identifier itself.
3. Leaderboard and display name
If you set a display name, it appears together with your score on the app's public leaderboard. Please do not choose a name that identifies you personally. Without a display name you take part anonymously.
4. Purchases via Google Play
The VIP subscription, coin packs and individual category unlocks are handled via Google Play Billing. Payment data is processed exclusively by Google. To confirm a purchase, our server verifies the purchase token issued by Google directly with Google and stores the order ID and the token in order to grant the purchased content and prevent multiple redemptions. For information on processing by Google, see the Google Play privacy policy.
5. Advertising
ZoomGuess is partly ad-supported. Non-VIP users may be shown ads, including video ads. Once an ad network (such as Google AdMob) is integrated, it may process an advertising ID and usage data to serve and measure ads. VIP users are not shown ads. We will update this policy and the Data safety section in the Play Store as soon as ads are active.
6. Images and content
The puzzle images are provided by us and displayed in the app. The app does not process your own photos or other content you create.
7. App permissions
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Internet | For the game account, leaderboard, purchases and ads. |
| Vibration | For haptic feedback in the game. |
8. Storage and deletion
We store the account data for as long as your game account exists. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time directly in the app (Settings → Account → Delete account) or request deletion informally by email. We keep proof of purchases for as long as we are legally required to.
9. Your rights as a data subject
Within the limits of the law you have the following rights:
- Access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
- Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Lodging a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)

10. Changes to this policy
We update this privacy policy when the app's features or legal requirements change. The version published on this page applies.
